It was my first New Year's in Trysil (Norway). Sven's family goes up to their cabin every year at this time and enjoys the first skiing of the season and the beautiful scenery. It was a bit of a difference coming from California. It was a lovely 6 days. The day we got there was New Year's Eve so had a great dinner and then stayed up to see the celebration Swedish and Norwegian style. About an half hour before mid-night they just start setting of tons of fireworks. Since there cabin is at the top of all the other houses you can just look our and down and see everything. It was beautiful! We toasted with champagne in the cold night air and watched and listened to all the explosions. It was much bigger and better then I though it was going to be and I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

The second day Sven and I got a chance to snow shoe up a ski run that was closed, which was very fun. Annica came in that evening and we opened presents and cut the Greek New Year's bread. I got the quarter this year which hasn't happened in a long time :) We then spent two days skiing in fresh snow. It always so nice to get out for the first ski of the year. Sven, Annica and Ingvor all skied the third day while I slept in ... but came back early because it was cold and had waffles and kaffe for fika, very yummy.
Oh, we also blew up the Snow Streaker which was a present from Matt & Zoe. It was so much and I made a video out of it. If you haven't seen it yet go check it out on our homepage. We're headed up to Trysil again at the beginning of Feb, can't wait to enjoy the mountain again.
